Frequently Asked Questions

General

How do I become a member?

To become a member, you must first purchase at least one movie package from the Movies menu.

The steps are simple:

  1. Go to the System Requirements page and run the System Check wizard to make sure your system is capable of playing Windows Media streams over the Internet. If successful, continue with step 2. If not, please review the Help section.

  2. Browse the movie packages under the Movies menu.  Click on any of the movies you see, and then click on the 'View Clip' icon.  This will play a small (approx: 1 minute) video clip of the movie you selected.  The quality for the full-length videos will be the similar to the video clips.  If you can play the video clips successfully and you are satisfied with the quality, proceed to the next step.

  3. Click again on the Movies menu.  Choose the package (A, B, C or D) you want to purchase by selecting the 'Duration' from the pull down list and clicking 'Add to Cart'.  You may repeat this process to purchase additional movie packages.

  4. Once you have selected your packages, click on the 'Secure Checkout' button.  Proceed to complete all the information requested.

  5. That's it! Once your order is submitted, it will be processed within 8 hours.  Once the order is processed you will receive a confirmation email from us.  If your order was approved, you can log on to the site by clicking on the Members menu and watch your movie titles.
I am trying to log on with my BulkMale.com account and it does not work. Why?

StudStream.com is a separate site on its own, with no relation to the BulkMale.com memberships. To become a member on StudStream you must purchase at least one movie package from the Movies menu.  You cannot use your BulkMale.com account information to sign-on to StudStream, unless you register with StudStream using the same account information (username / password). In the same way, you cannot use your StudStream account to access Bulk Male.

I am trying to log on with my StudStream.com account to BulkMale.com and it does not work. Why?

Same issue as above. Please see the previous question.

After I purchase a movie package, will my credit-card be re-charged automatically when the package expires?

No.  Your order will end when the "Time Left:" goes down to zero on your movie package(s).  When that happens, your credit card WILL NOT be charged to renew the package.  If you want more viewing time, you have to re-purchase the package(s) you are interested on.

There's a problem with the merchandise I purchased. What do I do?

If you feel there is a problem with the merchandise you have purchased, please contact us immediately. The best way to check on the status of your order is to call our office directly. If you either can't or don't want to call the office then you can email your request through the website. Don't forget to include your entire name and address. You'd be surprised at how many people just give us a name and no address. Also, remember the 2-3 weeks delivery window starts when we receive your order. We will do everything in our power to give you complete satisfaction.

Which stores carry the videos?

Can't find Maximum Density videos in your local stores? Contact us and we'll let you know where, or if you don't have a store in your area, let us know who should carry us, and we'll contact them and set up the account.

How will the charge show up in my credit card statement?

The charge will show up in your credit card statement as: "MAX DENSITY".

I don't like sending credit card information over the Internet. Is there another way to register?

A Fax/Mail-in registration form will be available soon.  Please check back here later for more information.

Please note that StudStream has a secure server with a Thawte digital certificate (SSL). With our secure server, all transactions are encrypted for your protection.

How can I get a refund or cancel my member account?

Unfortunately, once your payment has been processed we cannot refund a membership. However, if there is a verifiable technical problem with the site we will consider a refund.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SYSTEM IS COMPATIBLE BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ANY MOVIE PACKAGES FOR STREAMING. You can check your system by running the system check wizard.

Once I place an order, how long do I have to wait before I can view the movies?

We try to process orders as soon as possible, and normally it takes less than 8 hours for an account to be activated. However, sometimes it may take longer depending on the day, but usually no longer than 24 hours.

If you sent your order by fax or postal mail, it will be processed as soon as we receive it. This could be just hours for fax registrations, and a few days for mail-in registrations.

How is my personal information used?

Your personal information is always kept private and confidential. It is only collected during the registration process for two purposes: (1) To process your payment, and (2) for verification of identity and age. For more information please read StudStream's Privacy Policy.

Do you send any information by postal mail?

We do not send unsolicited postal mail to our members or visitors.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MC, American Express) as well as personal checks or money orders in US$ currency.

I ordered online, but I have not received any confirmation emails? How do I know if my order was processed?

Orders are normally processed within 8 hours. If you did not receive a confirmation email soon after placing your order, then perhaps there was a problem with the email address you entered during registration/checkout.

Sometimes members incorrectly type their email addresses during registration/checkout, and confirmation emails bounce back to us. If this was the case, the best way to determine if your account/order is active is to try to log on with your username and password after 8 hours. If your account is still disabled after 24 hours, please send us a message with your name, email and time of registration.

All I get is blank pages when I try to access some of the sections of the site. What's up?

Sometimes the cache on a web browser gets screwed up and you may only get blank or broken pages when trying to access some sections of the site.

To solve this problem, simply clear the cache (disk and memory) on your browser, and try to access the pages again. For instructions on how to do this, please view your browsers online help.

I forgot my password; What do I do?

Use the automated password retrieval utility to recover your password. To use this utility you must know the email address you used during registration. The password will only be sent to the email address associated with the member account.

If you do not remember the email you entered during registration, or that email is no longer valid, you must request your password by sending us an email with your name, address, email, and username. We will verify the information and send the password to the email recorded in the member account (if valid) or your current email address.

I am a member, but I can't see the expanded model photos?

The model galleries are restricted for members with at least one active movie package.  Once your last active movie package expires, you can still sign-on to the system as a member and access other member's-only sections, but you will not be able to view the enlarged photos on the model galleries until you purchase and activate another movie package.

Why can't / shouldn't I download (save) pictures from the contests, or galleries?

We have had problems with visitors downloading pictures of members/models and posting them on other sites or newsgroups without the permission of the members in the picture or us.

Since we respect and value the privacy of our models and members (most of whom post their pictures on our site to be shown only to other StudStream members), we have decided to implement this security on the contests/galleries.

How can I determine my actual connection speed to the Internet?

Your actual connection speed to the Internet is rarely equal to the rated capacity of the device you use to connect to the Internet.  For example; A 56kbps modem may constantly connect to the Internet at 46.3kbps or less. A Cable modem's actual connection may slow down significantly as more people get on that particular Cable sub-network (shared bandwidth).  There are also numerous factors that can affect the actual connection speed at any time.

To test and find out what your actual connection speed is, please visit Computing Central from MSN.  Their speed test page will test your connection on the fly and give you the details. Their test page includes great information on connection rates, specifically the "I have a 56K modem. Why isn't my download speed even close to 56K?" section.

Please note that StudStream requires as a minimum a good 56k modem connection with an actual connection rate of approximately 50kbps.  Anything lower than that could result in "jerky" video, and perhaps no video at all.

What is the quality of the videos on slow -vs- high speed connections?

The two samples below were captured at slow and high-speed connections:

56k Modem
(49.2kbps actual)
Cable Modem
(300kbps actual)

As you can see from the images above, the faster your connection to the Internet is, the better the quality of the video.

Technical: Windows Media Player

I can't view the preview clips or any video streams on the site. What's wrong?

StudStream required special software and browser configuration to view video streams over the Internet.  Please visit the System Requirements page to find out what the minimum requirements to use StudStream are.  Also make sure to run the system check wizard to check your system for compatibility, before you purchase any movie packages.

Please note that StudStream requires as a minimum a good 56k modem connection with an actual connection rate of approximately 50kbps.  Anything lower than that could result in "jerky" video, and perhaps no video at all. Please read this for more information.

Media Player complaints about codecs. What does this mean?

CODECs are special drivers that Media Player uses to decode and play video and audio.  Usually, when you attempt to play a video or audio file that requires a CODEC not installed on your system, Media Player automatically downloads the CODEC and installs it.  However, there are times when this process does not work automatically.

StudStream requires the Windows Media 7 CODECs (both video and audio).  These CODECs are loaded automatically when you install Media Player 7.  If you use Media Player 6.4, it should automatically download the CODECs when you attempt to play a video/audio.

If for any reason your system fails to automatically download and install the WM 7 CODECs, you can download them manually from the Microsoft web site.  Once you download the file, double-click on it to install it, and follow the instructions.

I can't use Netscape 6 to view the videos.  What's wrong?

Netscape 6 introduced a backward-incompatible implementation of Java.  For this reason, the embedded Media Player is not supported under Netscape 6.  We strongly recommend you use Internet Explorer 5 or better with StudStream.  For more information on Netscape incompatibilities, please visit the Netscape site.

I can't use Netscape on my Macintosh to view the videos. What's wrong?

The embedded Media Player is not supported on any version of Netscape for the Macintosh.  Please use Internet Explorer instead.

I am getting a proxy error when I try to play a video on my Macintosh. What's wrong?

If you get a Proxy error message when you try to play a video stream on Media Player for the Mac, go to the Media Player settings and disable the Proxy.

I am getting an error message on Media Player. What does it mean?

Visit the Microsoft Support site for more information on Media Player error codes.

I'm on a 56k modem connection and sometimes the video freezes from time to time. Why is this?

Although 56k modem connections are the minimum required connection speed, a faster (high-speed) connection is always recommended for video streaming. High speed connections are available through Cable Modem, xDSL, as well as other types of providers.

Video streams played over a 56k modem connection will run at a low bit-rate and will experience "pauses" in video and sound during playback. This is known as "buffering", where Media Player needs to download segments of the video before rendering it.  Buffering is usually done real-time, while the video is playing, but on slow connections video playback will catch-up with the buffering process and that's when "lags" or "pauses" will be experienced.  This scenario is particularly true for 56k modem connections that are not good (e.g., with actual connection rates that are lower then 50kbps).  Please read this for more information.

Unfortunately this is a problem no simple solution, due to the slow speed of 56k modem connections, Media Player will try to stream the video as best as possible, but lags will most likely occur.  The best way to experience StudStream (or any other streaming site for that matter) is with a high-speed Internet connection.

When I play a video, I can hear the audio but I can't see the video.  Why?

This applies to the same problem discussed above. Please see the previous question.
